We welcome families at The Chestnuts and we have a selection of toys and games for children, as well as a number of Dvd's and books for younger and older children.. For parents with a baby or Tiny Tot we offer a cot, high chair and stairgate all free of charge, we also have a 'Tiny Tots' Box of baby changing-mat, baby bath, unbreakable plates, bowls and cutlery. Plus a plastic bib, corner protectors and night light. We offer a baby sitting service subject to availability, just ask us about prices and availability when you book. We can even accommodate twins.
You will find plenty of things to do in the Cotswolds as a family. There are all the sports you could wish for including water sports, boating on the Thames, fishing, golf, walking and horse riding etc. There are numerous museums nearby such as the fascinating and world famous Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford and the Ashmoleum with its Egyptian collection of mummies and other world treasures. You can visit many working farms and bird sanctuaries. The Adam Henson Cotswold Farm Park near Guiting Power specialises in rare breeds of animals and offers seasonal demonstrations include lambing, shearing and milking. Slimbridge Wetlands Centre is an internationally important reserve and home to the worlds largest collection of rare and exotic water-birds. In addition there are walks of differing lengths, the Discovery Centre with hands on displays and a nice cafe.
Only a short distance from The Chestnuts is the Cotswold Wildlife Park. This 120 acre park is home to a collection of animals from all over the world. Many of the animals are threatened or endangered species in the wild. In addition to the animals and gardens there is a cafe, adventure playground and narrow gauge railway. Or visit Crocodile world, the only Crocodile zoo in the UK and just a short drive from our cottages.
Hau ever wanted to visit a real castle - Warwick Castle, is great fun at anytime of year and is a great day out for the whole family.
