At The Chestnuts we encourge you to explore the great outdoors and so we welcome Cyclists and Walkers to the cottage.
There are numerous guide books, local and regional cycling and walking guides and maps at The Chestnuts as well as a number of laminated routes that you can take out with you. There are more than 500 miles of public footpaths and bridleways to explore. We have provided places for you to dry out your boots and secure your bicycle. Details of your nearest cycle hire outlets and cycle repair/spares shops can be found at The Chestnuts
Should you be unlucky enough to have an accident a small first aid kit is also available. It contains all the normal items you would find together with a small number of plasters.
If you are arriving on foot or by bicycle, we are happy to provide you with grocery items, just ask us for the essential shopping list when booking and we will have the items you selected there for your arrival. Once at The Chestnuts there are a number of local companies that will deliver daily.
Just in case you need to buy any extra clothing items, we have included details of outdoor clothing shops in the area and details of the nearest doctor, dentist, hospital and all-night chemists. You will also find information on local public transport and baggage and cycle transfers in the area.
